Manager – External Reporting will be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of external financial reports, as well as, preparation of quarterly and annual stand-alone facility financial reports including ESG reporting, quarterly earnings releases and the related webcast presentations, annual employee benefit plan audits, and will assist and collaborate with the technical accounting team to prepare disclosures based on technical accounting whitepapers and other ad-hoc projects. Independent thinker who is able to demonstrate leadership skills and an ability to manage across the organization who can approach and propose/challenge recommendations and improvements to the senior management. This position reports to the Senior Manager of External Reporting.

What would I be doing?

  • Prepare periodic financial filings for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and relevant SEC regulations.
  • Prepare footnotes to financial statements including, but not limited to acquisitions and divestitures, stock-based compensation, derivatives, debt, leases, management’s discussions and analysis, etc., and support for footnotes in accordance with the applicable technical guidance, including the main statements such as Balance Sheet, Income statement, Statement of Cash Flows, Statement of Stockholders’ Equity.
  • Prepare and coordinate financial information contained in quarterly earnings and press releases, including coordination with FP&A and the Investor Relations group.
  • Perform detailed review of all filings, to ensure accuracy and consistency for clear mastery of the financial statements, expert understanding of the footnotes and cross-references throughout the reporting materials.
  • Maintain documentation support in electronic format for all filings.
  • Work closely with the external and internal auditors, legal counsel, treasury, FP&A, operations, accounting staff and executive management to coordinate audits and reviews.
  • Prepare and provide input on Audit Committee presentations and ad hoc requests as requested by senior management.
  • Be proactive and take the initiatives on reviewing new accounting technical guidance (SEC and U.S. GAAP) for applicability to filings and propose recommendations for implementation plans with documented memos.
  • Review peer company filings for best practices and challenge/recommend improvements to the company’s filings and take the lead on presenting to the senior leadership.
  • Lead, coordinate and participate in ESG reporting preparation process and prepare disclosures in coordination with the Sustainability group.
  • Good understanding of EPS/Diluted EPS and share-based compensation and own/compile the share-based related financial footnotes.
  • Prepare debt covenant calculations.
  • Prepare stand-alone facility financial statements on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Review annual employee benefit plan reports for accuracy.
  • Perform technical accounting research and conclude on complex accounting issues through discussions with management and preparation of memorandum as necessary.
  • Oversee work of junior staff members as needed.
  • Provide support on special projects as needed.

What would make me qualified?

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting required
  • 8 or more years of overall accounting/financial reporting experience
  • CPA required
  • Public company experience required
  • Big 4 or equivalent SEC Reporting experience a plus
  • Experience responding to SEC comment letters is a plus
  • Working knowledge of financial accounting standards including FASB, EITF, SEC and PCAOB pronouncements
  • Team player with strong analytical, project management, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and corporate accounting policies and ability to evolve processes to keep in step with the business strategy and growth

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Experience with Workiva external reporting software a plus
  • Flexibility to work longer hours to manage deadlines, including off hours and weekends, during peak reporting periods
  • Good understanding of cash flow statement with the ability to own the cash flow statement process on a monthly basis, in liaison with different departments such as treasury, operations accounting and corporate accounting to be able to understand and differentiate the flows of cash activities to properly present them in the statements, produce the free cash flow KPI, and perform flux analysis.
