As the VP- Controller you will hold a critical leadership position within the finance team. In this role, you will partner closely with the CFO and the business unit CFO’s as well as the executive team to drive consistency in controls, systems and processes across the corporation. We are seeking a seasoned individual that has experience in “best in class” companies that can provide thought leadership to the company during time of growth.

You will report directly to the CFO . This position requires you to be on-site full-time.

What would I be doing?

  •  Manage team including external accounting, internal accounting, and business systems (OneStream).
  • Manage all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and accounting operations ensuring compliance with US GAAP.
  • Oversee the completion of month end close activities and prioritize staff assignments to meet timeframes established for month-end, quarter-end and annual closing of the general ledger and financial reporting.
  • Responsible for ensuring that reconciliations are accurate, complete and in compliance with GAAP. As needed, streamline, and simplify all required financial processes; understand connection and impact to operations.
  • Manage the full cycle of the accounts payable process, from invoice receipt to payment including 1099 tax reporting.
  • Preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting to all constituents.
  • Preparation of monthly cost center reporting in collaboration with FP&A.
  • Monitors new accounting developments, evaluates potential impact of proposed accounting pronouncements, and implements new accounting requirements as required.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial control policies and procedures, SOX, and regulations the Company is subject to.
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external audits, including interacting with auditors providing all required documentation, communication of critical accounting processes and addressing any findings or recommendations.
  • Partner as needed with the tax function to ensure proper legal entity reporting.
  • Maintain the GL structure of the Company including maintenance of GL accounts, creating new GL accounts as required, adding new branches, cost centers, entities, and verifying reporting codes to ensure accurate financial and management reporting.
  • Working closely with operations, IT, and vendors enhance and implement accounting systems, software, databases, tools, and control systems while ensuring proper functioning.
  • Provides comprehensive financial updates and insights to senior managers and the board of directors by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points while providing recommendations.
  • Manages the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust, continuous improvement, and teamwork including coaching, mentoring and career development.
  • Create and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and key risk indicators (KRIs) to monitor the accounting department’s development and performance.
  • Working with and assisting the Chief Financial Officer as needed.

What would make me qualified?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • CPA certification required.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting concepts & standards under US GAAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or other related field of study required.
  • 10+ years of financial accounting experience within the manufacturing sector experience.
  • Experience accounting and reporting for a loan portfolio and for securitization structures.
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Experience and knowledge with Blackline and / or Financial Force (GL) is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Analytical ability to interpret large quantities of data and present it in a meaningful and easily understood form while providing recommendations.Working knowledge of federal and state tax regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Ability to take initiative in problem solving and use sound judgment to produce practical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management.
