The Production Planning Manager is a dynamic, self-motivated and results oriented leader with a proven record of overseeing day-to-day production planning and demonstrating exceptional communication skills. The Production Planning Manager’s primary responsibilities include evaluating demand and developing a production schedule that meets customers’ requirements and maximizes production efficiency by maximizing plant resources to meet or exceed planned results in inventory levels and operating costs. The position is responsible for planning and scheduling production activities, including material planning, to meet customer demands and optimize manufacturing efficiency. The role maintains close working relationships with Customer Service, Operations and Finance in order to support the continuous flow of production in the manufacturing facility.
What would I be doing?
- Create production schedules and production orders with the intent to meet demand and maintain targeted inventory levels while balancing staffing, machine capacity, and production efficiencies
- Evaluate SKU demand allocations, analyzes and plans site production schedules based on current and evolving business needs, site capacities, and special equipment or timing needs
- Analyze, maintain, and modify key item-level system replenishment settings such as minimum ship quantities, shipment increments, minimum production quantities, and maintain inventory levels
- Work with procurement in the planning and procurement of raw materials and supplies as required to execute the production schedule.
- Engage with the customer service team to understand priorities based on demand, sales trends and policy
- Communicate with manufacturing leaders and makes adjustments to the production schedule when necessary
- Inform critical team members of any extenuating circumstances that could cause service failures
- Provide cross functional leadership across departments to solve for demand related issues caused by forecast error, demand constraints, shortages in raw materials, etc.
- Monitor and analyze production capacity against demand, adjusting as necessary to ensure on-time delivery.
- Generate regular reports on production performance, key metrics, and any deviations from the production plan, with specific attention to material-related issues.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in material planning processes.
- Instrumental in continuous improvement activities through research, bench-marking, and identification of improved methods or tools to increase efficiency.
What would make me qualified?
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or other related field
- 8+ years’ experience in production planning, preferably in a food manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of a Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process
- Proficient in using Materials Requirements Planning (MRP)software, SAP experience is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Manufacturing Production Planner in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Professional certification is a plus (CPSM/CPIM)
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, SAP, or other similar ERP systems)
- Ability to work in fast paced high-pressure environment where change is constant and needs to be managed with internal and external customers
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Must have a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Collaborates cross-functionally
